Safety procedures for Biology:

ALL biology students must pass a safety quiz earning a 90% or better to participate in lab activities.  After passing the safety quiz, they must sign a safety contract and have it signed by a parent or guardian and retun it to school.  If the safety contract is not signed by student and parent and returned to school, the student will not be able to participate in lab activities until it is.  Students will receive a score of zero on any lab activities they are not allowed to participate in until the safety contract is returned.  Please print another safety contract below, sign it and return it to school if not done already!  The FINAL  deadline for turning in the contract is 10/9/09.

Students and parents are encouraged to frequently check progress on Power School to look for missing assignments or work that was not turned in.  Please see the Bacon Academy Guidance Office for more information about how to access Power School.

Peek at the week:

Block Schedule:

Class #1=What are limiting factors?  Review some limiting factors impacting the USA.  Are the limiting factors examples of technology or impacts on the population size?  Are they a positive or negative impact?  Read an article about the US population boom and answer the reading questions.

Class #2= Go to the computer lab and work on a Power Point presentation about a developed and an undeveloped  country (of your choice).  Use the census bureau website to find information and graphs describing the countries you picked.  Also try visiting the CIA World Fact Book site for additional information.  Look at the sample outline below.

Class #3=Play a review game to get ready for the population quiz.  Take the population quiz (multiple choice section).  Discuss (as a class) what you learned from the "Alarm Sounds on US population boom" article from the Boston Globe.

Class #4= Answer an essay question about a developed and an undeveloped country.  The rest of the period will be used to finish the Power Point presentations (which will be presented before Thanksgiving break during the half days next week).  All other work on the Power Point must be finished at home.  All finished Power Points must be saved to the L:Drive under "Vizcaino"->"student work"-> and then your class "period".  Make sure you put your name in the title so I know which one is yours.
